Under the Hood
An original work that takes inspiration from "Red Riding Hood" to examine the stories we tell children and the impact they have, Under the Hood continues the Department of Theatre & Dance mainstage season at Rowan University. Following a public preview on February 22 at 8:00 p.m., the show runs February 23 - 25 in Tohill Theatre on the university's Glassboro campus.
Estonian/British theatre artist Elina Manni directs the production, with movement by faculty member Paule Turner and assistance from department chair Elisabeth Hostetter, created through a collaborative process with theatre students and faculty. By turns playful and frank, the show looks at how fairy tales can impact our cultural unconscious.
The show is a collection of clever, funny and dramatic reinventions of the classic story and created for families (high school & up) and those who are young at heart & supple in spirit. Included are 17 different versions from or representing 11 different countries that each have their own take on the folk tale.
