Butterscotch, the retro-futuristic, voice percussionist virtuosa, is a force to be reckoned with in today’s music scene. Butterscotch has rocked stages worldwide and leaves audiences clamoring for more. A powerful blend of Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, and R&B, Butterscotch's musical world is as unique as her genetic makeup. Born of mixed heritage (African American/Native American/Asian/German) and a proud LGBTQ team player and activist, Butterscotch's physical beauty and musical elegance are testament to her power as an artist. Her music always contains a message to reach those who are in need of love and inspiration, and addresses mental health issues because she suffered severely with depression in her youth and knows that music harnesses the power to save lives. Butterscotch began her career in hip hop's underground beatbox battle scene, ultimately being crowned the world's first female beatbox champion in 2005. Soon thereafter, a breakthrough performance on America's Got Talent introduced her to the world when she performed her version of the jazz standard, My Funny Valentine -- simultaneously singing, beatboxing and playing the piano. The exposure on national TV gained her thousands of fans and kickstarted a prolific career that continues to this day. She has traveled the world opening and performing alongside legends such as Erykah Badu, Thievery Corporation, Earth, Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers, Sergio Mendes, Bobby McFerrin, Wyclef Jean, Talib Kweli, LA Philharmonic, and the WDR Big Band, to name a few.
